About Map & Markers

Map & Markers started in a pretty simple way.

We were making coloring books for kids’ birthdays.
A few custom pages here. A personalized cover there.
Something fun. Something thoughtful. Something kids actually wanted to sit with.

As we shared them with friends, parents, and artists, one thing kept coming up:
Why don’t more places have something like this?

Not just the big cities everyone already knows.
But the small towns. The overlooked states. The places people love, visit often, and carry memories from, yet rarely see celebrated.

That’s where Map & Markers really began.

Celebrating Places That Matter

We’re Jules and Jean Luc, and we grew up in small towns and small states.
Places full of character, stories, and pride, even if they don’t always make the headlines.

We’ve traveled. We’ve explored. And we’ve fallen in love with places that deserve more attention than they get.

Map & Markers exists to celebrate those places through the eyes of kids.

Each coloring book is designed around real cities and states so kids can draw the places they live, the places they’re visiting, or the places they’re about to explore for the first time.

More Than Just Coloring

Yes, our books are fun.
But they’re also conversation starters.

We love the idea of a kid coloring a landmark and asking,
“Have you been here before?”
“What do you remember about this place?”
“What should we do when we go?”

That’s where the magic happens.

Coloring turns into curiosity.
Curiosity turns into stories.
And stories turn into connection.

For kids, it’s a way to explore the world with crayons in hand.
For parents, it’s a chance to slow down, step away from screens, and connect without forcing it.

Why Location-Based?

Because there was a gap.

We couldn’t find coloring books that highlighted the places we loved—especially the smaller cities and states that people visit all the time but rarely see represented.

Location-based coloring lets kids:

• Learn about where they live
• Get excited about where they’re going
• Ask questions about the world around them

It shows them that exploration isn’t just about famous skylines.
It’s about every place that makes up the world.

Who These Books Are For

Our books are ideal for kids roughly ages 4 through 10, and even into early middle school.

Families use them in all kinds of ways:

• As travel souvenirs
• As road trip or flight activities
• Before a trip to build excitement
• After a trip to relive memories
• In classrooms as a fun learning tool

We’ve heard from parents, teachers, and caregivers who love how simple, flexible, and engaging they are.

For us: This is just the beginning.

We want Map & Markers to grow; into more cities, more states, and eventually places all around the world.

Our goal is simple:
Help kids explore anywhere they want to go through art, imagination, and conversation.

If a coloring book can help a family connect, spark curiosity, or make a place feel meaningful, then we’re doing what we set out to do.
